BHL Spotting: Marsha Ambrosius

Check out the new video by Marsha Ambrosius.  The message that it is sending out about bullying and the acceptance of a homosexual lifestyle in the world and in the black community has been getting a lot a buzz on the net.  Let me know what you think...

Kelis!

"I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!"

I will never forget those lyrics or the woman who sang them.  The former Mrs. Jones distinctive style insist that you pay attention even if you don't like her music (please don't act like you weren't diggin Bossy or Milkshake at one point).  She's currently rocking a short cut, but I have a feeling we'll see some Big Hair Love from her again real soon.

Cree Summer!

Beautiful! Natural! Talented! And it doesn't hurt that she was on my favorite sitcom of all time, A Different World, and does voice-overs for cartoons I still watch to this very day.  She has aged beautifully!  I love her so....

Do, but Don't: Hair Accessories

Do!  Embellish your hair!  Some of your favorite fashion retailers are flooded with cute headbands, barrettes, and flowers. Breathing new life into your fall-back hairstyle (mines is an afro puff) can be a snap by adding a twist of personal style.

but Don't! Go Cheap! And I don't mean inexpensive, I mean tacky.  Make sure you purchase items that are well made and look as authentic as possible.  It doesn't have to be expensive, but it should look expensive.  For example...

Don't sell yourself short and limit your purchases to retailers. Call on the crafter in you and create your own pieces.  I've rummaged through many craft stores looking for the perfect silk flowers and then hot gluing them to hair combs or barrettes. So have fun with it and do it BIG!

Teyana Taylor!

Little miss lover of all things fun and the niece of Pharrell Williams (<3 him), caught my attention in a big way with her Big Hair Love back in 2009.  She was originally supposed to drop an album back in 2008 after helping to choreograph Beyonce's "Ring the Alarm" video, but I guess she got too busy hanging out with Pop A-listers, modeling, and acting.  She's 20 and gorgeous!  What did you expect?? Check out her locks a-plenty...
